Marlynn Banta, LMFT, RN is dedicated to providing professional mental health services through tele-therapy. I have years of therapy experience in both public and private mental health. As a therapist I will meet you where you are and work with you to tackle your problems. I can help you navigate the challenges of life and complexities of family and marriage, allowing you to grow into the best version of yourself. Given my Christian background, I can directly deal with matters of faith if you prefer. Or we do not need to talk about the faith - it depends on your needs.
I believe in meeting you where you are. Though my initial training was in Solution-Focused Therapy with additional training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Strategic Therapy, in practice I use an eclectic approach and focus on pragmatic solutions tailored to individual needs. Whether you're seeking help for marriage, family, or mental health, I am here to support your journey.
Convenience of online therapy. Compassionate, discrete, and tailored therapy sessions. This is a stand-alone service, not in place of your regular physician.
I have spent more than two decades working as a clinical therapist in a large county mental health department, as a contractor with a state mental health agency, and as a therapist in a private psychiatric medical clinic. Due to working with such a wide range of patients and issues, I can effectively help you face mental health challenges and complex interpersonal dynamics.
I focus on realistic approaches to ensure therapy is effective and sustainable. I tend to give "homework" since much of personal change takes place outside of therapy sessions.
As a life-long Christian, I incorporate faith values and practices such as prayer, bible reading, and worship in my daily routine. If you would like, we can delve into spiritual issues if they are important to you and relevant to your identified problem. Though I briefly ask about religion during the intake process, it is not my job to convert you to my faith. It is my job to guide you to make decisions to tackle your problems.
I strive to create a welcoming atmosphere where every individual feels valued and understood. I have been able to establish rapport and work with almost everyone. If there is not a good fit between my approach and your expectations, then we simply part ways. A favorite quote regarding therapy, "Comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable."
